How to Navigate Workplace Bias

This playlist unpacks and addresses the common forms of disrespect women face at work. These videos give a foundation of how to deal with this type of discrimination, and what to do when you encounter it in and out of the workplace. You’ll also learn ways to advocate for fellow women in your life, how to stand up to unfair treatment, and ways to be an ally when you encounter microaggressions towards others. Each video is accompanied by a guide for you to discuss with peers on how best to navigate these challenges and thrive at work.

Microaggressions are comments and actions that reflect bias, and despite the “micro” in their name, they’re not subtle or small. Microaggressions can range from having your competence questioned to being subjected to sexist remarks. While the burden should not be on women to fix these problems, research shows that speaking up can make you feel more empowered. In this video, we share strategies for the most effective ways to push back against microaggressions, such as practicing self-care, asking questions, and reaching out to others who’ve had similar experiences for validation and support.

Each playlist is 7-to-9 months of curated content for women with shared experiences, career stages, or skill-building goals. We provide a kickoff guide to set the stage for your first Circle meeting, custom discussion guides for each video, and a Looking Back and Next Steps Guide after you complete the playlist (which is coming soon).
